ABOUT DMI

About Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI)

The Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate and Collaborators (DMI Sisters) is a religious congregation of devoted sisters and novices committed to spiritual and psychosocial upliftment through pastoral care and community development. Rooted in faith and compassion, DMIโ€™s mission is to serve families affected by conflict, and to empower marginalized women and children across South Sudan.

Since 2012, DMI has actively supported the primary education for children in Juba by starting 15 community schools. These schools generate its own revenue and are being effectively managed by the communities with minimal technical, financial and strategic support from DMI. Our efforts focus on expanding access to quality foundational learning in safe, inclusive, and nurturing environments. In 2025, DMI started two primary schools โ€“ one in Juba (St. Joseph Global School) and second one in Kodok.

DMI remains committed to delivering high-quality primary education based on child-centered approaches. Our goal is to foster foundational academic skills, emotional well-being, and social confidence, preparing children not only for academic success but also for joyful, holistic development.
